That being said, it seems as if there will be more than one “love interest” for Sam Wilson in the upcoming film. However, Leila Taylor has a more direct past as a love interest for Sam specifically in the comics, whereas Rachel Leighton aka Diamondback was more romantically involved with Steve Rogers’ Cap. I’m not saying that’s wrong, both could certainly be true (and yes, I too have heard that Diamondback is in this film). WILL BE A STRAIGHT OFFER – ( via Daniel RPK’s Patreon) Opposite Anthony, a villain but also possibly a love interest, there will be an option for more after this film. But if you follow leaks for this film, you might recall a recent casting grid that came out via insider Daniel RPK’s Patreon that seemed to indicate that Diamondback will be “possibly a love interest” for Sam.įemale, early to mid-30s. If you don’t know already, Leila Taylor in the comics was Sam Wilson’s girlfriend for a time. A(nother) love interest for Sam Wilson? What about those Diamondback rumors? I have exclusively learned of a new but established Marvel comics character who will be appearing in the film as well – Leila Taylor. We’re sure to learn even more about Sam’s private life and the struggles he faces as the new Cap. But we won’t just see more high-flying action in Captain America: New World Order. He offered to bring Falcon with him, but Falcon wanted to remain in Harlem.Captain America has long been one of my favorite Marvel properties, and I’m happy to see it continue with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking up the mantle in his own film. Seeing him in action in that incredible Falcon-Cap costume at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, was enough to make me very excited to see what this Cap would do on the big screen. Six issues later, Cap visited Harlem again in time to help Falcon fight against a vicious gang (that was being manipulated by the Maggia) and when the day was saved, Cap went to head out again to go travel some more. Once that was finished, though, Cap and Falcon parted ways in Captain America #120 and Cap went off on his own. Falcon teamed up with Cap to take down the Red Skull when the Skull was equipped with the Cosmic Cube (and Cap was actually in the Red Skull's body). His departure from Fantastic Four and Amazing Spider-Man get all of the attention, but he was working on Cap and Thor during that period, too.Īnyhow, as I imagine you all know by now, in Captain America #117, the Falcon was introduced as the first African-American superhero in the Marvel Universe. Not that they talk trash about them or anything like that, but I think both Thor and Captain America get forgotten a bit when we think about the time that Lee stopped writing for Marvel. I think, for the most part, that people often discount Stan Lee's later Captain America comic books.
